2023 Tour Gardens
Ellen Golub, Plainview, NY
Today, July 15, 2023, was the members garden tour of the Long Island Daylily Society. Our first garden was the fabulous, meticulously designed garden of Ellen Golub in Plainview, NY. Ellen has artistically combined specimen shrubs and trees with daylilies, perennials and annuals to create a beautiful retreat!
Ellen also collects caladiums that she overwinters in her basement. She had dozens of interesting varieties. Additionally, she has a collection of begonias that are lovely. Thanks, Ellen, for sharing your garden!

Paul Limmer, East Northport, NY
The second stop on our Long Island Daylily Society’s 2023 tour was to the home of Paul Limmer in East Northport, NY. Paul had literally thousands of daylilies of all types, colors and sizes grown in huge clumps. He also grows beautiful Lilium, fruit trees, hardy bananas and vegetables. He has what he believes is the largest Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar on private property in the area.
Paul has been under the weather after a bout of Covid, but greeted us with his fabulous smile and a signature Hawaiian-shirt! Always a favorite garden!

Marc and Carolyn Bossert, Northport, NY
The third garden on the Long Island Long Island Daylily Society’s 2023 tour was the garden of Marc and Carolyn Bossert. Marc has been surrounded by daylily people from a young age when his parents were members of LIDS in the early days and dragged him along to meetings and events. He regaled us with stories of “the old days” as we ate our lunches. What fun! Carolyn invited everyone to sample desserts, fruit, drinks, etc.
Well, the gardening bug took and Marc has been enjoying his own garden for many years. The couple and their girls live in an old farmhouse from the 1800’s in Northport, NY. They have a few acres of sun and shade to garden in. Marc enjoys adding many perennials including hostas to their beds. Unfortunately,, deer have recently become a problem. Marc has been fencing off some areas to prevent browsing.
Thank you Marc and Carolyn for your hospitality!
